Women’s Comprehensive Health Patient Education
At Pinehurst Surgical Clinic Women’s Comprehensive Health we strive to provide the highest quality of medical care. This entails providing patient education, promoting medical research, integrating the most current medical developments into patient care, practicing cost-effective medicine in cooperation with our managed care partners and maintaining the value of compassion in women’s health care.
Our doctors and surgeons provide an integrated approach to treating gynecologic conditions that include:
CYSTOSCOPY INSTRUCTIONS | Cystoscopy is a procedure in which the provider looks into the bladder and the urethra with a special camera called a cystoscope. |
DIAPHRAGM EDUCATION | Your Diaphragm is a shallow cup with a flexing rim. When the diaphragm is coated with spermicidal gel and placed over the cervix, it prevents sperm from entering the uterus and provides a reservoir for the spermicidal gel or cream. |
ENDOMETRIAL BIOPSY | An endometrial biopsy is a procedure performed in our office to obtain a sample of the lining of the uterus (endometrium). |
ESSURE INSTRUCTIONS | You must use alternative contraception until satisfactory Essure Confirmation Test is documented. Only at that point can you rely on Essure for birth control. |
ESSURE NOVASURE INSTRUCTIONS | NovaSure endometrial ablation is a one-time five-minute procedure designed to remove just the uterine lining—the endometrium—which is the part of your body that causes heavy bleeding. No incisions are required, leaving your uterus intact. |
FEMILIFT | Femilift is a laser-assisted procedure designed to improve vaginal irregularities through resurfacing. It tightens the vagina and treats stress urinary incontinence and painful intercourse. |
FOODS THAT MAY IRRITATE THE BLADDER | The effects of various foods on overactive bladder vary from person to person and requires trial-and-error. The following information describes some foods that may make your symptoms worse. |
HYSTERECTOMY POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS | A hysterectomy is a surgical operation to remove all or part of the uterus. |
INSTRUCTIONS FEMALE KEGELS | Life’s events can weaken pelvic muscles. Pregnancy, childbirth, and being overweight can do it. Luckily, when these muscles get weak, you can help make them strong again. Pelvic floor muscles are just like other muscles. Exercise can make them stronger. Women with bladder control problems can regain control through pelvic muscle exercises, also called Kegel exercises. |
LAPAROSCOPY POST-OPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONS | Laparoscopy is a less invasive form of surgery with fewer side effects, risks, and a shorter recovery time than traditional surgery. Only small incisions are made. |
PESSARY EDUCATION | A pessary is a device that is placed into the vagina to support the uterus or bladder and rectum. The pessary device is a firm ring that presses against the wall of the vagina and urethra to help decrease urinary leakage. |
SKIN RESURFACING TREATMENT | Shortly after your treatment, follow these skin resurfacing treatment instructions. |
TENSION FREE VAGINAL TAPE OBTURATOR (TVT-O) SUBURETHRAL SLING PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS | The bladder sling acts like a hammock underneath the urethra, to provide support underneath the urethra. Therefore, when the urethra tries to fall down, the sling prevents the hypermobility of the urethra, and thereby prevents leakage. |
UROFLOW AND URODYNAMICS PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS | The Uroflow study measures the flow and force of your urine system. This test is often performed on patients who have obstructions in normal flow of urine or problems in urination. |
VULVAR AND VAGINAL BIOPSY | A vulvar/vaginal biopsy takes one or more tissue sample from the vulva or the vagina. The vulvar is the outer parts of the female genitals, including the labia, which is often called the lips, and the clitoris. The vagina is the opening that leads to the cervix, which is the entrance to the uterus. |
