General and Bariatric Center
The specialties of the General and Bariatric Center encompass a wide range of medical and surgical care. Our board certified general surgeons have specialized skills and knowledge to diagnose, treat and manage many conditions and diseases. Specifically, our surgeons offer treatment of the following:
- digestive system
- thyroid and parathyroid glands
- gallbladder
- gastrointestinal tract
- esophagus
- liver
- stomach
- large and small bowels
- rectum
- pancreas
- speen
- diseases of the breast
Our surgeons also perform the following:
- upper and lower endoscopy
- laparoscopic surgery
- hernia repair
- anti-reflux (hiatal hernia) surgery
- dialysis access surgery and surgical treatment of morbid obesity
Appointments
Appointments may be scheduled with our office without a referral from another physician. In order to help us serve your healthcare needs most efficiently, please be sure to bring the following with you to your appointment:
- Medical records from any other physicians who have treated you for the same problem, including any X-rays, tests, and written reports (CT scans, MRIs, etc.)
- A list of medications you are presently taking
- X-rays performed at another facility if related to current problem
- A referral from your primary care physician, if required by your insurance company
- Your medical insurance card

After your visit
You may require additional medical services from our office. For prescription refills, please call the General and Bariatric Center during regular hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. To ensure a same-day response, be sure to call before 1:00 p.m. Please note that after office hours and on weekends or holidays, the doctor on call does not have access to your personal records and Our nurses’ line is 910-215-2518, and calls are answered in the order in which they are received. The nurse will need your name, address, date of birth, name of medication, and pharmacy name with telephone number. The nurse will also note any concerns or problems you may have, and if unable to help you, will talk to your physician or the physician assistant if the doctor is unavailable. In the rare event that a nurse is not available, please leave a message in voice mail, stating your name, account number, telephone number and the nature of your call. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.
Should you need to be seen by one of our physicians after regular office hours, Pinehurst Surgical has a general surgeon on call every day, including weekends. Please go to the emergency room and request the general surgeon on call for Pinehurst Surgical.
